The Colorado Water Garden Society (CWGS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1983 to encourage a greater appreciation and interest in the use of water in the landscape. As the first established water garden society in the world, the mission of the society is to disseminate educational information to the general public and to stimulate the study and culture of water plants.

Members receive CWGS' award-winning newsletter, "The Water Garden", published seven times each year. Each edition contains water gardening information especially for the Rocky Mountain Region.
Meetings are held monthly in March, April, May, August and September, and December.

Meetings are held at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1009 York St., and other locations in the metro area. The date and specific location of each meeting is announced in the newsletter.

June is the annual CWGS fund raising event - the sale of tropical and hardy water lilies, as well as other water plants. The sale is open to the general public. July is reserved for a tour of several private water gardens, followed by a picnic.
